Young Programmers from Edinburgh at the EIFF

For the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the EIFF Young Programmers presented a range of classic and modern European films to the public. In advance of the festival, they watched and wrote about several retrospective titles for the EIFF catalogue.

The two retrospective programmes that they engaged with this year were Handmade in Britain (a programme of British films made by production company Handmade during the 1970s and 1980s) and New Directions in Science Fiction 1980-1985.

As well as this, they also introduced and hosted Q&As with filmmaker guests at the premieres of new European films including The Farthest, by Emer Reynolds, The Erl prince, by Kubo Czekaj and My Pure Land, by Sarmad Masud. They also presented The Young and the Wild,  their own programme of short films which they curated for the film festival.

For many members of the group it was their first time participating in a film festival and, from all accounts, they all had a wonderful time!
