Linking film viewing and filmmaking

Linking film viewing and creative practices with cell phones and tablets, allows young people to develop an in-depth reflection on the films. They analyze the screenplay, the style and the cinematographic choices of the filmmaker. Besides, having their own creative practice makes them generate a personal bond with cinema, feel that their analysis and interpretation are valuable, and make them feel close to films.

At the same time, viewing excerpts increases their knowledge about European cinema’s diversity, breadth and riches. In order to promote it, we work with films and film excerpts, which allow a more detailed analysis of the cinematographic decisions of the authors. Some of the filmmakers we explore are: Chantal Akerman, Mercedes Álvarez, Pedro Costa, Raymond Depardon, José Luis Guerin, Jonas Mekas, Manuel Mozos, Paulo Rocha, Henrikas Šablevičius, Vittorio de Sica, Audrius Stonys, Robertas Verba, Arūnas Žebriūnas, Edmundas Zubavičius.

Moreover, the work with mobile devices fosters cinema to become part of the daily life of young people with the tools they find appealing and are within their reach.

The visibility of their work has a great value as part of the educational process. With this aim their audiovisual creations will be published on the blog ‘We’re Moving Cinema’.
