We prepared a school day of film for the primary school in Izola, named Let’s go to Cinema! (Gremo v kino!), where we had screenings for all age groups, from the 1 to 9 grade, and involved all teachers of the school to participate.
350 children from 12 to 14 years watched Miss Impossible (Jamais Contente, Emilie Deleuze, France, 2016, 90’) and Sameblood (Amanda Kernell, Sweden/Norway/Denmark, 2016, 110’). The screenings were accompanied with discussions by film education experts Lorena Pavlič, Petra Gajžler and Ana Peršič, teachers received pedagogical materials. The event was organized in cooperation with the national 5-year film education project Primary Film School (Filmska osnovna šola).
We also involved teachers from 1st till 9th grade of the schools, gave them special lectures about film education and how to accompany children to film screenings and talk to them, and in the end they filled out evaluation sheets with their impressions, answering what they considered beneficial in the day and what could be improved.
Due to the school request it was not allowed to photograph children at the event.
