Portraits of trees

26 Nov 2019 - 19 Feb 2020

Meno Avilys

Kretinga, Palanga, Nida

The workshop was devoted to the portrait of trees on the seaside. Accompanied by the filmmaker the workshop participants analysed relevant film excerpts, observed and documented the life of trees in the following towns: Kretinga, Nida and Palanga.

During the workshop students of the 5th grade from Simonas Daukantas progymnasium in Kretinga explored the topic of a diary of trees. They watched and discussed excerpts from the films: Arraianos, Train of Shadows / Tren de sombras, Sogobi, The Ancient Woods / Sengirė, Cau la nit. In parallel, the students scouted locations, searched for ‘the characters’ for their films, made photographs and recorded sound. The result of the workshop is the short film about the life of trees on the Lithuanian seaside. The workshop was led by the filmmaker Mindaugas Survila.
