Slovenia does not have its own video-on-demand channel dedicated to art cinematography and film education, which is why we at Otok Institute have partnered with the national five-year programme Film Primary School, run by the Slovenian Art Cinema Network.
We selected the documentary film Home, Sweet Home (Slovenia, 2016) by the representative of the new generation of Slovenian film directors Maja Prettner. The film, awarded at the Festival of Slovenian Film, is a documentary portrait of children from the institution that gives home to those who are removed from unsuitable social environments, which gives an intimate insight into the broader welfare and educational system. We placed our selected film in their base of films on their website www.solafilma.si. The website is offered to teachers and film educators all over Slovenia, by creating an account they get free access to viewing the film, currently there are more than 500 registered users. The selected film was also a part of the programme for Young Programmers and of the selection in Inside Cinema. The film will be available to registered users till the end of the 2020/2021 school year.
