Art Cinema Odeon, Izola

On Sunday, May 5, 2019, Slovene elementary school students became film jurors at the Art Cinema Odeon, and their favorite European film for young people in 2019 was voted Fight Girl by director Johan Timmers.

The EFA Young Audience Award is an all-European one-day children’s event held at the beginning of May, intended for youngsters between the ages of 12 and 14 years. More than 30 European countries and 40 European cities already participate in the project. The Slovenian event took place at Odeon, Izola’s art cinema, where 95 participants discussed the themes and challenges of the three films selected by the Academy. Pupils from different schools, institutions or individuals, gathered to attend this European day, dedicated to watching three films and voting for a winner, the recipient of EFA Young Audience Award 2019. All three films had introductions and in-depth discussions about the film language and the way we compare films between each other to select the winner.
