The Centre for the Moving Image (CMI) was established in 2010 with a mission to be at the forefront of the development of a vibrant and successful film industry and culture across Scotland and beyond, seeking to increase the range and quality of opportunities for people to be inspired by and engage with film and the moving image.

The CMI is a registered Scottish charity, incorporating Edinburgh International Film Festival, Filmhouse in Edinburgh, and the Belmont Filmhouse in Aberdeen.

The CMI integrated Moving Cinema from 2015 to 2020.
