Since the launch of Young4Film in 2023, Piccolo Grande Cinema has been a part of  it's network and has been including the Moving Cinema Young Programmers. In March 2024, the Piccolo Grande Cinema Film Festival, along with Cineteca Milano, hosted the second annual meeting for representatives of all Young4Film partners in Milan.

Piccolo Grande Cinema is a film festival for families, schools and young audiences promoted since 2008 by Fondazione Cineteca Italiana. It is an event characterised by the strong connection of Cineteca to its role as a film culture promoter on its territory. The festival is supported by year-long activities which allow it to keep a close relationship with its audience and have consolidated the event as a regular cultural appointment.

Piccolo Grande Cinema provides diverse spaces and methods in service of the enhancement of the circulation of non-national EU films, especially towards young audiences (one of the core targets of the festival). 

Through several activities, the festival doesn’t merely offer the possibility of accessing non-national film screenings, but also the opportunity of developing a more rounded knowledge of international cinema, its issues and its strengths, thanks to debates, juries, masterclasses and workshops that aim to foster curiosity and stimulate the audience’s interest for EU arthouse films, and contribute to further develop the public’s sensitivity and passion for European Cinema. 

Piccolo Grande Cinema has strongly worked to create a strong relationship with the audience through regular year-long activities. With a yearly offer of screenings of both contemporary and heritage features - the latter was chosen from the 35,000 international titles preserved in Cineteca’s archive -, through 3 directly-managed exhibition theatres (Cineteca Milano Arlecchino, Area Metropolis 2.0 - part of the Europa Cinemas network - and MIC Theatre), MIC-Museo Interattivo del Cinema (Interactive Film Museum) and a Virtual Archive, Cineteca counts around 130.000 spectators a year.
