Sinopsis

Lea Grand is a swiss actress lost in Madrid who will have to find her own way of being an actress in a country she was not born in. She will have help from a diverse group of characters that will cross her path: a young actress, her expartner, a non-talking pianist, her neighbour or a sick man specialized in bats. However, she is searching in the wrong place.

As the Young Programmers express:

“We were fascinated by the film’s playful use of documentary resources and its original chaptered structure, which raises questions and offers answers throughout the narrative. Another reason this feature resonated with us was the way it reflects issues that concern our generation and echo across society. It made us reflect on migration through a sensitive and honest lens. We also want to highlight how the film portrays gentrification and allows space for self-reflection without imposing or assigning blame.

The screenplay and storytelling—almost like a tale thanks to the voice-over—along with the symbolic reinterpretations it proposes, truly stood out to us.
For all these reasons, your film has connected with us on many levels, and it is a real privilege to accompany you in this leap into fiction feature filmmaking.”

«In her first feature lm, Ana Serret stays true to her roots in documentary filmmaking offering a hybrid cinematic style that blends reality, theatre and fiction. With apparent ease, she invites us to reflect on current social issues such as the search for identity, migration, gentrification and precariousness from an intimate and human perspective.

Isabelle Stoffel embodies Lea in a magnetic performance, bringing to life a protagonist caught up in an emotional journey that traverses disparate characters and settings. In this raw but beautiful journey, the film becomes a hymn to the city of Madrid and its residents. The director presents a self-aware film that plays with the viewers, inviting them to become an active part of the work.

We are particularly excited to accompany this work in its world premiere and to have the privilege of opening the conversation about the film within the framework of Seminci, bringing Ana Serret’s vision to the festival audience».
