Founded in 2008, Beldocs is one of the leading documentary film festivals in Southeast Europe, held annually in Belgrade, Serbia. The festival is dedicated to presenting the best of contemporary documentary cinema from around the world, offering a platform for both established and emerging filmmakers to showcase their works. Beldocs is particularly focused on films that explore social, political, and environmental issues, providing audiences with thought-provoking and engaging documentaries.
The festival also includes a variety of industry events, such as workshops, panels, and networking opportunities for filmmakers, producers, and distributors. Its mission is to promote documentary filmmaking as a powerful tool for social change and to foster a greater understanding of global issues through the documentary genre.
Since its establishment Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival has been devoted to young audiences providing them with quality audiovisual and cinema experience and film education activities curated by film and youth professionals. By 2023, Beldocs’ film education programs have expanded to include a variety of youth-centered activities, primarily aimed at the underserved 13-18 age group in Serbia.
As part of joining the Young4Film network, Beldocs has empowered Young Programmers to play a key role in curating the Teen section, showcasing award-winning documentaries for students and teachers. The Teen Jury selects the best film, and the program is further enriched with year-round educational screenings. Additionally, MiniDoc workshops for high school students, teacher training sessions, and the development of Young4Film at Beldocs+ VoD contribute to enhancing film education across Europe.
