The Landesverband Kinder- und Jugendfilm Berlin e.V. (kijufi) has been implementing film and media projects with children, teenagers, young adults and multipliers since 1988. Our programs promote participation, creativity, and self-determination, creating spaces where young people can engage, express themselves confidently, and be supported in a respectful and non-judgmental manner. Our work in an interdisciplinary team consisting of media, film, art and theater pedagogy as well as political education and social work is special.

We develop projects in which children and young people can actively participate in social discourse and express their perspectives on film. Aesthetic-artistic sensitization promotes creative self-expression. Our understanding of film and media education also includes political and (inter-)cultural education. With an emphasis on relevance, we aim to enable participants to competently handle new technologies and digital media. Strengthening digital news and information literacy among children and youth contributes significantly to democracy education.

In 2016, Kijufi (Germany) joined the project with mobile phone practices and viewings on VoD platforms, integrating also the Moving Cinema methology and since 2023 has been a part of Young4Film.
