Skalvija Kino Centras

Since 2016

Skalvija Kino Centras, located in Vilnius, Lithuania, is one of the country’s most iconic cultural institutions dedicated to cinema. Founded in 1965, it is a historic venue known for its commitment to showcasing a diverse range of films, including classic cinema, contemporary works, and avant-garde productions.

Skalvija Kino Centras plays a vital role in enhancing film culture in Lithuania by organizing international events like the Vilnius Documentary Film Festival, which is a key platform for both audiences and the local film industry.

In addition to screenings, Skalvija Kino Centras offers workshops, masterclasses, and seminars led by film professionals.

Education is central to its mission, with courses on scriptwriting, directing, editing, and film history, alongside week-long filmmaking workshops.

With the establishment of Skalvija Film Academy, established in 2007, they offer hands-on filmmaking programs for 14-18-year-olds, guiding students in feature film, documentary film, and film theory.

The cinema is a member of Europa Cinemas, CICAE, and ECFA, and has received multiple awards, including recognition for Best Young Audience Activity in 2024 from Europa Cinemas.
