Young Programmers from Edinburgh, aged from 15 to 19 years old, have presented a monthly programming at the independent cinema Filmhouse. They have organized three screenings from January to March. The group have been responsible for the selection of films, the communication process, the posters' design, etc.

Young Programmers from Edinburgh have hosted the first Moving Cinema screenings of the season.

’71 was the first film chosen by the group of young people to present at Filmhouse. After the screening, they welcomed Gregory Burke, the screenwriter of the film who participate in an interesting Q&A where the differences between writing for the screen and the stage, the shooting on 71 or some great background information was discussed.

The February event was a sold-out screening. EIFF Young Programmers presented the Turkish-French film Mustang and joined Ashley Thompson, from Shakti Women’s Aid a logal Edinburgh charity, during the dialogue following the session. The discussion where focused on the film’s depiction of domestic abuse and inspired many contribution from members of the audience.

For the third Moving Cinema film, Young Programmers screened Céline Sciamma’s coming-of-age tale Girlhood. The guest that accompanied the session was Dr Claire Boyle from the University of Edinburgh, who discussed film’s depictions of race, gender and class.
